In winter 1988, hunters find a mute boy living with wolves in the Bosnian forest. Given the name Haris and unable to speak or walk upright, he’s sent to an orphanage in Belgrade, where the other boys bully him mercilessly.Over the following years he slowly learns to speak and move like a person, helped along by a kind teacher and a fellow orphan who takes him out into the city — until Yugoslavia’s collapse pulls the war straight into the orphanage and, eventually, back into the forest he came from.Vuk Ršumović’s debut feature, loosely based on a real case, won the top prize at Germany’s GoEast Festival and was widely praised for newcomer Denis Murić’s largely wordless lead performance.Directed by Vuk Ršumović, the film premiered in 2014.
