Europe is the first half of a theatrical diptych with Rio Bar, both based on plays by Ivana Sajko. Where Europe works as a grand, self-consciously polished meta-narrative about the making of European identity — moving between myth, propaganda, Brecht and tabloid noise — Rio Bar supplies its footnotes: the small, dirty war and transition stories from the former Yugoslavia that the bigger story tends to leave out.Directed by Bojan Đorđev, the production premiered in Belgrade on November 17, 2007, as part of the RIZIK project.
