Text by Jean Cocteau, Chris Kraus, Paul B. Preciado
The production weaves together three very different texts around one voice: Jean Cocteau’s 1928 monologue La Voix humaine, fragments of Chris Kraus’s novel I Love Dick, and passages from Paul B. Preciado’s Testo Junkie — each built around a woman’s voice negotiating with a silent, absent man.
Five actresses share that voice across the evening: a woman on the phone trying to hold onto a five-year relationship as her former lover leaves to marry someone else, a writer’s letters chasing an idealized cowboy-intellectual, and a body remaking itself through testosterone and theory.
Directed by Bojan Đorđev, it premiered at Zagrebačko Kazalište Mladih (ZKM) in Zagreb on February 17, 2018.
