Text by Franz Xaver Kroetz
Apathy adapts Franz Xaver Kroetz’s 1971 monodrama Request Concert, a wordless play that follows one woman through an ordinary evening alone in her flat — cooking, tidying, waiting for nothing in particular — building toward its quietly devastating ending.
Directed by Anja Suša, this version brings in the Trampoline House Choir, a Copenhagen community made up largely of refugees and migrants, setting the original’s portrait of isolation against a very different, collective kind of displacement.
The production premiered at Teater Republique in Copenhagen on September 22, 2017, performed by Xenia Noetzelmann.
