Three Winters / Tre Vintrar / 2019

Text by Tena Štivičić

Tena Štivičić’s play follows four generations of the Kos family in Zagreb, moving between 1945, 1990 and 2011 as war, politics and inheritance reshape the house they share.

Winner of the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, it traces how each generation of women in the family negotiates the same rooms differently — through occupation, ownership and departure.

This production was staged by Uppsala Stadsteater in September 2019, with a cast of thirteen characters spanning three time periods and thirty-two costumes marking the changes between them.
